The course is designed for families planning both hospital or home births. The series is taught by two of our Reno area midwives.
Lamaze International is a nonprofit organization that promotes a natural, healthy, and safe approach to pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenting. Lamaze education and practices are based on the best and most current medical evidence available and help families advocate for the care and experience they prefer. Lamaze is the gold standard in childbirth education. Historically, Lamaze has been known for its breathing techniques. Today’s classes focus on the evidence-based Six Healthy Birth Practices and providing parents with a variety of comfort techniques.
Your Lamaze class will cover a variety of comfort measures for labor. You will have time in class to try many of the positions and tools to get a better feel for what resonates with you and your partner.
Your Lamaze class will include discussion about and resources for our Reno community's complementary pregnancy and postpartum care providers like pelvic floor therapy and lactation/feeding support.
You will receive LOTS of handouts and resources your teachers have collected over the 15+ years they have been attending births. Resources include handouts from Spinning Babies, Evidence Based Birth, and [M]otherboard.
